I’m relatively new to reading regularly, starting about 6 months ago with the first two Dune books. From there I’ve mainly read space sci-fi and fantasy and have really enjoyed them, but when I’ve tried to branch out I either DNF or find it a drag. I would love to try other genres though!
Books I’ve read and liked:
– Dune 1 (and 2 to a lesser extent)
– Hyperion
– Fall of Hyperion
– Words of Radiance (Stormlight Archives 1)
– Contact
Books I disliked:
– The Silent Patient; For the same reasons others seem to. The most annoying main character and extreme medical inaccuracies. DNF
– Abominable; Figured because it’s Dan Simmons I would like it. But omg I dont need 10+ pages explaining the ride from the start of the driveway to the house entrance, with a backstory on the gardener that we’ll never actually meet. DNF
– The Alchemist; I didn’t hate it, but it definitely got to be repetitive of trying to get it’s message across.
