So like the title says, I just finished Ch 18 and I am in love with this book. This was all read (listened to) in one sitting. I am absolutely in loved with this book and couldn’t stop listening. Only stopped at 18 because I want to play some video games and my husband gets off work in an hour lol. Despite all the hard evidence against him, I’m with Ralph, something doesn’t sit right with me and I believe he’s innocent. I have 2 theories:
1: It’s a classic red herring scenario where the book does it’s best to sell the he did it plot, just to bait and switch at the end.
However, I feel like this might be too cut, dry, and predictable for the good old King so here’s my other theory that more fits in with the themes of his books.
2. He himself is innocent, but something maybe possessed his body and did the deed. That’s why the security guard thought it was a bit spooky that he didn’t seem to recognize him at first. Maybe it’s not a full on possession, but I know King is going to put some kind of twist on it, whether it be supernatural or not. (Has any of his books not contained supernatural elements?)
Also, I know her husband just got arrested, but wishing death on an unborn child, that’s just cruel and so were her thoughts towards the detective to begin with.
