His main criteria was:
– sci fi (he loved a long way to a small angry planet)
– fantasy (dark but not too depressing)
– set in a different world/planet and ideally with a variety of species
– largely not a romance, doesn’t mind some comedy but largely wants a thriller/mystery undertone
– he was interested by my Janice Hallet books and how they were multi modal (made up of emails, texts, excerpts and transcriptions to tell the story)
– he also likes SCPs, mechanical (like plane or boat) crashes, nature and cool species.
I think that was the key stuff! We read very different books and he’s very particular so I’ve not come up with anything he’s been crazy about yet.
