I am looking for AR book recommendations for my son. He is only 11, but his reading level is 5.5-8.7. If you aren’t familiar with the AR system that’s fine. Basically, he’s a deep thinker and he is looking for books about people who dealt with extraordinary life circumstances (fiction or nonfiction) and the psychological impact of those circumstances. He doesn’t want anything about war because he’s tired of those books. He is mature enough to handle tough subjects like violence, abuse, life threatening situations, and certain traumas, but no sexual content please. Preferably 250 pages or less. Any suggestions? TIA
