Hey everyone, hope you’re having a good day.

Recently read “The Bell Jar” by Sylvia Plath. It is a semi-autobiographical novel that explores the mental health struggles of its protagonist, Esther Greenwood. Set in the 1950s, Esther, an ambitious and talented young woman, secures an internship at a prestigious magazine in New York. However, as societal pressures and personal expectations mount, she descends into a downward spiral of depression and identity crisis. The novel delves into themes of societal expectations, gender roles, and the challenges of maintaining mental well-being. Esther’s narrative reflects Plath’s on struggles with mental illness, providing a poignant and thought-provoking exploration of these themes.

I am deeply moved by its exploration of mental health and societal expectations.

Can you please recommend any similar books that touch upon similar themes?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
