Hi all, I’m looking for anything that uses description in a good way. I’ve been told my writing is sometimes too descriptive and the sentences can be too long which hinders pace. A good way to improve writing is to read a lot, but when I go into a bookshop it’s difficult to decide what to buy and spend time reading so recommendations are always welcome. I’m not looking for a book that’s described as descriptive as such, rather anything that has good, impactful descriptions in its writing. I used to read a lot but don’t seem to read much recently. I do like genres like magic realism, fantasy, anything with a kind of mythological feel but am open to any genre if it’s a good read
