And I don’t think two writing styles could ever be any different. I unfortunately really dislike Lispector’s stream of consciousness style and page long paragraphs. I find it extremely annoying and will have trouble finishing this book (Near to the Wildheart).
If this book doesn’t leave me with anything else, it at least finally gave me the presence of mind to realize why I love Didion so much. Her prose is clear and concise. Her ability to give such comprehensive “non answers” (and even sometimes hinted side eyes) to issues always leaves me with such a sense of satisfaction.
Anyway, I guess the juxtaposition between the two authors interested me.
