By obvious I mean things that are popular like acotar or the cruel prince, etc. No hate to any of them though! They’re all great books.
Personally I have really enjoyed Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia of Faeries, A Study In Drowning and House of Hollow. These have piqued my interest because they’re not the typical romance-focused stories that tend to be popular in this style of content but still have a romantic aspect to them. I find that they also explain a fair bit of the lore behind the particular fae that is the focus of the story (and generally this means that they’re not elves!) which is a fantastic change from what is currently popular in book based social media circles. To take one of my previous examples, A Study In Drowning by Ava Reid has a largely dark-academia/psychological feel to it which I think fits perfectly into this sub-genre of Fantasy; having to convince oneself of what is real and what is not.
Are there any fae-based books like that that you’ve read and loved? Tell me about them please!
