While the depth, thoughtfulness, and prose of Booker Prize books is quite impressive, they are almost always incredibly dark and overall depressing. I’ve read books by Margarat Atwood, Hang Kang, and Hanya Yanagihara, and while these stories stuck with me as a reader for awhile, they were not enjoyable to read and I would not recommend them to any reader I know. I enjoyed Cloud Atlas and everything by David Mitchell, and The Luminaries, and am looking for some other books that have the same depth and epicness that the Booker Prize recognizes, while also giving the reader a reason to hope and cheer for their fellow man/woman.
