Preferably written by authors who are from or have lived in NOLA, because I’m **specifically** looking for stories that have a strong sense of place and which really rely on (or at least emphasize) the city’s culture/character.
I do especially love mysteries, historical fiction, and fantasy/paranormal, but I don’t have much of a preference for the genre except that I **don’t** prefer straightforward romance or YA. But even narrative nonfiction would be welcome. Any recommendations? Thanks!
Edit: Forgot to add that I have read some stuff by Anne Rice, but it wasn’t my thing because I’m not a fan of vampires.
