I suppose the title might be a bit odd, but I was thinking about the pacing of stories recently as I read through the prologue of Leviathan Wakes. It made me realize that I have a proclivity towards stories that kind of… putz around… on the topic. For example, I love reading Crichton novels as he tends to spend way too much time exploring a particular topic before continuing.
With that said, I was curious as to how other readers view topic; and how it affects what works you will read (or tend to avoid).
