Sorry this post is long, there is a tl;dr at the bottom!
I (32F) am getting back into reading again to move away from mindlessly doom scrolling on my phone for hours, I’m tired of feeling like I’ve got chicken noodle soup for brains. I want to read for hours instead so I’m looking for books recommendations that don’t revolve around romance, or at least sexual content. A little is fine, I just don’t want it to be the main focus or be explicit detail. I want to note, I don’t hate romance/sexual content by any means I read that more in fanfiction, but in published books it just doesn’t interest me. Don’t ask me why, I can’t explain it.
Anyways! The current book I am reading is Between Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman and it’s fantastic and one of my favorite books I’ve read in a really long time. It’s actually a book I bought on a whim that got me back into wanting to read again. I desperately want to keep that excitement I feel while reading it.
Genres I think I’ve found the most interesting are horror/cosmic horror (but not needless gore for shock factor), medieval, western, time period, apocalyptic, time travel, fantasy, space. I’m absolutely open to other genres, of course!
Tl;dr – looking for fiction book recommendations where romance isn’t the main focus and not based in current reality, I prefer fantasy or medieval or something in the same realm that you recommend.
