    Hey folks,

I’m working on a writing project about high school seniors that’s set in the late 1980s, so I thought it might be helpful to “study up” and read some books about teenagers that were written/published in that decade (preferably from 1985 and later).

To be clear, I’m not necessarily looking for books written *for* teenage readers (e.g. *Slumber Party* by Christopher Pike). I’m more interested in books *about* teenage characters. For example, Stephen King’s *Carrie* is about a 17-year-old girl and her classmates, but (at least in my opinion) it’s decidedly not a YA novel.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance 🙂

    1. Less Than Zero, his, BEE, latest book The Shards revisits and extensively expands that period and has younger teen character, and because it is his lived experience is pitch perfect. He has a Spotify playlist for the book.

So you don’t want books for teens? Because my first thought was Sweet Valley High series. Which was written for teens about teens.
