I was on the internet and came across this book series by Sherry Thomas it is the elemental trilogy. I thought it looked super interesting so I went ahead and threw books one and three in the cart (in paperback) on Amazon. Then went to go look for book 2 and it was not available so I checked the marketplace. No word of a lie $500-600 plus 6 or $7 shipping on one of them the others had free shipping in used good, very good, or acceptable condition.
For the hardcover it would have cost 39.12 brand new and this book was published back in 2015. So I decided to check Abe books 300 to 800 and something just for the paperback. For the hardcover in fair condition almost $20 this is all in Canadian dollars btw because I’m Canadian. So I checked Thrift Books $24 US shipping included for an acceptable condition of this paperback.
Price break down here: book $9.79. Shipping 14.49. Acceptable condition. But if you get the hardcover Edition on thriftbooks it’s cheaper only $14.88 US shipping included. Price break down here: book $5.89. Shipping 8.99. good condition. Now maybe you can make this make sense for me because I don’t understand. Why is the shipping $14.49 for the paperback to Canada?
But if you buy the hardcover the shipping is only $8.99 to Canada? The math is not mathing here I don’t get it. I mean I feel like at this point I either have to give up on owning all three physically and get the second one in ebook format. Or pay the the cheapest price and get the second one in hardcover. Causing me to have a mismatching set. Unless i pay a little more to have a matching set.
What would you do? Also how do you feel about this? Besides the whole supply and demand I know people are going to talk about. Which I get. But still I just find it ridiculous. Have any of you ever ran into this problem before? I’m going to check my local thrift store when it opens on Thursday because it’s only open 3 days a week. Thursday, Saturday, Sunday and see if they have it. But if they don’t I’ll have to either get the ebook or pay the ridiculous amount of money thriftbooks is charging as that’s the cheapest.
