It’s summer in Australia and I have four weeks to kill before I have to go back to school. I’m looking for books that match the weather, but not necessarily like, the summer romance books that are often on booklists. Using the analogy of food, I want something rich and gorgeous like a fig (literally counting down the weeks till fig season), rather than classic summer type of food like ice cream or popsicles, which I would equate with books like Jenny Han’s work. An example of the kind of book I’m looking for is Song of Achilles, or The Secret History (yes ik it’s set in winter but still). I love historical fiction but I’m open to any genre, YA is great, nothing with more spice than I can easily skip over please! Thanks guys <3
