1. “Children of Dune”: “To turn his back on his father was like betraying a god.” The story follows a son’s journey to understand his father, The Messiah, and to make the terrifying decision his father could never face—to become a God.
2. “God Emperor of Dune”: This book made me realise, people always resent an uncaring god, but nothing is more terrifying than a god who truly cares.
3. “Siddhartha”: “Wisdom cannot be imparted. Knowledge can be communicated, but not wisdom.”
4. “The Prophet”: “Verily the lust for comfort murders the passion of the soul, and then walks grinning in the funeral.” A must read.
5. “Mythos”: Stephen Fry is great story teller. The audiobook was fantastic.
6. “Small Gods”: A perfect introduction to Sir Terry Pratchett’s Discworld.
Looking forward to making a longer list for next time. Happy New Year 2024!
