I’m realizing that I enjoy reading about religious characters and scenarios. For example, I enjoyed the religious aspects of A Canticle for Leibowitz (pretty religious the whole way through) and am now most of the way through Hyperion which also has some. Getting away from sci-fi, I read East of Eden recently, and while I didn’t actually like it has a whole, I found the parts discussing religion to be some of my favorite. That said, I’m not religious, don’t know a whole lot of Christianity (which my examples primarily are), and know even less of other religions, so I’d rather avoid stories that are overtly spiritual or assume deep knowledge of theology. Any ideas here? Can be any genre or religion.
