I’ve been looking for gay fantasy books to read for a while, but my problem is that I feel a lot of them focus on the romance and I like romance as a side note to the adventure while still having its time to shine.
I also like books with characters beyond the two involved in the romance—groups of friends! An example would be The Raven Cycle? There was romance between the characters in that group (with one of the couples being gay!) but there were also platonic relationships between them all as they explored the fantasy elements. I enjoyed PJO in my youth with its subplot with Nico coming out as gay, too, but I’m older now and looking to move away from children’s series and young adult books (tho if the characters are 18+ then young adult is OK!).
I prefer M/M, BUT I’m open to anything if it fits these themes because I’ve been having so much trouble finding these 😩 Thank you so much guys!!!
