The book was required reading during my first year of engineering school. I found it really inspiring, and thought it was the brink of a paradigm shift. 21 years after the book was published and it’s still just a one-off. The technology presented never caught on. In fact we’re living with even more awareness of the disastrous effects of the cradle to grave industrial paradigm. Micro-plastics in our bodies and environment, ocean trash islands, climate change, fossil fuel dominance, etc etc… Maybe this is less about books and more about society and industry.
