My mental health has slowly taken a turn for the worst – with the holiday season sorta acting as ‘the nail in the coffin’ in terms of my depressive state of mind. Alongside therapy and (hopefully soon) medication, I find that engrossing myself in reading can sometimes serve as a good form of escape during this ass time. I’ve had a few books that have helped me out of poor mental health ‘blips’ in the past. One of my favourite books I read this year was ‘Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia Of Faeries’ by Heather Fawcett. It served as the perfect little piece of comfort for me which really was just what I needed. I loved the witty and fun jokes, the endearing characters, the world. I’m obsessed with winter and so the setting was perfect and the romance had me gleefully kicking my feet at times lmao. It’s definitely become a ‘comfort’ book and I look forward to the sequel. (It’s exciting looking forward to something again!! :,)
What books are ‘comfort’ books to you, or allowed you to find some solace and peace during a rough time?
