Suggest me a book about the sea/boats/fishing that develop serious topics as much as possible avoiding children’s books and young adult books.
I’ve seen the recent post related to the sea but not exactly what I’m looking for, I want mature books Moby dick/the old man and the sea -core.
Thank you so much in advance

Destroyermen by Taylor Anderson. A crew on a Destroyer ship during WW2 somehow gets teleported to an alternate earth where humans werent the “intelligent” species, instead there are 2 intelligent species but very primarily still. The crew and ship with its superior firepower and speed could easily break the balance between the 2 hostile species.

I picked it up because i love technology upliftment genre, but this series has sooo much boat/ship and navy lingo i had no idea what was happening half the time. So you might like it?

All the White Spaces is a historical fiction book with horror elements about a trans man post WW1 who sneaks aboard an artic expedition, his long standing dream to go explore the artic.

A very very large (and very enjoyable) part of the book is taken up by Boating. Prep for the expedition, how they navigate, working on the boat, crossing the sea, the weather, etc. The rest of heavily psychological.

I too enjoy boating related literature and this was a real good one for me. The themes are also very mature, but at it’s heart it’s a historical fiction about boats and trauma and exploration.

I would compare it somewhat to how The Sword in the Stone is secretly a book about how much the author loves falconry. And medieval hunting/laws in terms of how you really wouldn’t expect it and what you get out of it.
