What are your recommendations for apocalyptic novels involving pandemics? Though this may be specific, I’m looking for novels with the following tropes:
1. Set at the beginning of the pandemic, not post-apocalyptic
2. Has a “patient zero” character (optional)
3. Doesn’t involve zombies or rabid “infected”; infection is flu-like, 75% lethality or over
4. Describes the spread of the virus, breakdown of society, and mass die-off
5. Shows or at least mentions how the pandemic effects an urban environment (because many works have the main character evacuate to an isolated area)
6. Obscure; can be found on Amazon (because most mainstream works skip over the pandemic)
A small list of works I’ve already read, or are at least aware of: *The Stand, Station Eleven, Year One, Year Zero, Pandemic: The Beginning, Influenza: Viral Virulence, The Last Tribe, Blindness, Surviving the Virus, Severance (though the last two novels involve “infected”)*
