i have some odd favorite books (Bone Gap and The Riverman series (YA), Sharp Objects, the ENTIRE Miss Peregrines series) that i enjoy SO MUCH mainly because it’s fiction with a little bit of weird fantasy added to it (other dimensions) but it’s not TOO much. Although i’ve strayed from YA fiction as an adult now, i’m still looking for something of the same vibe? I rlly wish i could read classics (To The Lighthouse, Pride and Prejudice) but i guiltily CANNOT seem to get into them… like my mind starts wandering and i have re-read a huge wordy paragraph all over again.

Any recommendations of a “subtle” fantasy book that doesn’t overdue it with the romance part?

(growing up my favorite books were literally all of Shel Silversteins poetry collections, Black Beauty, and the Hunger Games series of that gives you any more insight to my literature taste lol, i’m also into Mary Oliver’s poetry, i love poetic writing styles that also don’t seem too pretentious)
