Some books that come to mind being Queen’s Gambit or Ender’s game. Digging back to my childhood I’d say even Percy Jackson scratched that itch.
I don’t mind if it’s high fantasy, sci-fi, or more grounded in reality even. Very open minded.
Something I really love about these stories is how thrilling they can be
Bonus points if it has a good fall vibe but not at all necessary. I’d rather find the right book than the vibe. I also tend to do well with books that grip you quickly compared to slow burns
