Some of my fav books of 2023 that I haven’t heard people talking about:
“The Boys’ Club” by Erica Katz. About a young female lawyer entering into a male dominated company. Deals with sexual harassment in the work place. As a young women, she has the choices of using to her advantage, ignoring it, or changing it.
“The Loneliest Girl in the Universe” by Lauren James. Sci-Fi quick read about a girl who is born on a spaceship. Her parents later die and she’s forced to take over the ship. She befriends another ships captain but doesn’t know if she can trust him.
“A Head Full of Ghost” by Paul Trembly. A girls parents believe she is possessed. Her father takes it as a way to make a quick buck and allows a film crew into the house to make a television series out of her. The book allows readers to decide if she’s mentally sick, possessed, or doing it all for attention.
“These Silent Woods” by Kimi Cunningham Grant. A dad and daughter live off grid. As the daughter becomes of age, she becomes curious about the outside world. Why her dad has chosen this life for them is a mystery until the end.
“Lucky” – Marissa Stapley. A young girl is brought up as a thief by her delinquent father. She follows in his footsteps with her long term boyfriend. She wants a way out but doesn’t know how else to survive. When she wins big on a lottery ticket she sees this as her chance. The only problem is, as a known felon, she can’t cash it.
