I am a huge fan of Donna Tartt’s work – The Secret History, The Little Friend, The Goldfinch. She is my favourite living writer. However, there are only so many times we can reread our favourites.

I am looking for an author whose writing style has similar elegance as Donna Tartt and whose novels evoke that same sense of beauty and love for the language.

I have gone through previous reddit posts on this topic. Hanya Yanahigara is someone whose work I have already read. John Steinbeck as well, I am very fond of his works. I have also read Eleanor Catton’s works though her style and approach is very different to Tartt for me.

Among the classics who have also served as inspirations for Tartt, I am a huge Dickens fan and have also read Dostoevsky and Nabokov.

Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Long, maximalist novels by female authors would be a plus.

Thank you so much in advance!
