Hi, I want to find some good literary fiction to read, I honestly have been reading mostly horror and dystopian literature lately and I need a palate cleanser. Other than the horror, I recently read *We’re all completely besides ourselves*, *all my puny sorrows* and *tell the wolves I’m home*, and I loved them so much, so maybe something with the same vibes? not the same themes necessarily, just same bittersweet nostalgic quality. I don’t really like historical fiction that’s set before the 60’s-70’s, war stories or romance, but if there’s a little romance subplot or it’s not the focus of the book then its fine. Thanks!

Too bright to see by Kyle lukoff if you like lgbtq books, spooky and literally haunted by the grief of a family member. The ending is quite bittersweet

    2. Some that I’ve personally enjoyed:

      * [‘The Fell’](https://www.waterstones.com/book/the-fell/sarah-moss/9781529083248) by Sarah Moss – stream-of-consciousness novella, centred on a mountain rescue during the Covid pandemic
      * [‘Unsettled Ground’](https://www.waterstones.com/book/unsettled-ground/claire-fuller/9780241457467) by Claire Fuller – about two adult siblings living a self-sufficient countryside life, who have to navigate the modern world after their mother dies
      * [‘Hummingbird’](https://www.waterstones.com/book/hummingbird/tristan-hughes/9781912109807) by Tristan Hughes – gentle novella about two teenagers who form a friendship through their shared experiences of grief
