I just finished Night’s Edge by Liz Kerin and I absolutely ADORED it. I saw some criticism that it was slow, boring, needed more of the “vampire stuff” that people come to expect from vampire stories, etc., but personally, it using the concept of vampires to tell a really grounded story about a toxic mother-daughter relationship was right up my alley.
I love stories like that. I always find myself wanting to see stories in the MCU, for example, about how the Blip impacted the every day lives of every day people.
But I know stories like that are more niche. So I would love recommendations! Also whether a story fits what I’m asking is really subjective, so don’t overthink it, haha. I’m very open!
