Has anyone out there lost a book from when you were a kid (or just forgotten about it), and then rediscovered it, and it was as magical as you remembered?
I’m writing this because of something great that happened last night. My mom sold our house and put everything in storage not long after I went to college, and I saved two picture books and three chapter books from my childhood, along with a hardcover copy of A Christmas Carol that my grandfather gave me. But the box got lost somewhere along the line. Just gone.
And then last night… I found them! I’m at my mom’s for Christmas, she asked if I could clean out the cabinet underneath her television where the old VHS tapes are, and there was a box in the back labeled ‘videotapes.’ So I pulled it out and opened it and… My books were in it. Underneath a stack of videotapes, sure, but… my six lost books, home again, 30 years later!!!! 😊
I read both the picture books last night. They are even better than I remembered! I can’t wait to curl up with a cup of coffee and the chapter books. I’m just filled with so much happiness revisiting these books that brought me so much joy as a kid 🥹❤️
So… anyone had a rediscovery or surprise encounter with your childhood favorites?
