I’m having a difficult time focusing on the books I’m choosing to read, like I’ve become a critic or literary snob even though I’m just an average reader. It’s like I have to choose the perfect book, and if it’s not, it’s a grind to get through.
Books I’ve loved the past couple of years:
– A Fine Balance
– The Count of Monte Cristo
– A Gentleman in Moscow
– Pachinko
– Homegoing
– Stoner
– No Country for Old Men
– Lonesome Dove
– The Shadow of the Wind (the whole series)
A few that I struggled to like:
– The Pillars of the Earth
– Blood Meridian
– Piranesi
– Shantaram
– All the Light We Cannot See
– The Secret History
I finished Shogun this year and it wasn’t my cup of tea but the character building and development of the story was fun to read. I’d love any suggestions to create a book list of about 25 to read this year. Thank you!
