I love Lionel Shriver’s work. I have just finished Should We Stay Or Should We Go, having also read The Standing Chandelier, and We Need To Talk About Kevin. These are three of my favorite books, so I have to say she is one of my favorite contemporary authors.
But I also see a lot of the political, anti-woke comments she makes. I disagree with a lot of what she says, although I’m personally happy with the idea that we have a diversity of views in society and it’s okay to disagree. I guess I’m a little uncomfortable that it’s hard to forget about various controversial statements she has made when I’m reading her books, although the quality utlimately shines through.
Anyone else got thoughts on Shriver’s work, or similar issues with other authors?
