I don’t normally read non-fiction, but I’m reading Jeannette McCurdy’s “I’m Glad my Mom Died” and I noticed that she uses a lot of names of non-famous people whether it’s talking about them or their families.
If you say something negative or say something they don’t like, can’t they sue you for defamation? Maybe this is more of a legal question.
But yeah do authors normally make up fake names if they’re doing an autobiography and probably didn’t ask those people permission to talk about them?
