Sometimes I like to get a complete story in a single book with an ‘end’ to the relevant events. While more often I get attached to a character and want to read more about them and their activities (I sometimes even get all the spin-offs for those series too). The issue I run into with series is sometimes it’s a little sad when it eventually ends. “I spent 8+ years with this character and I’ll never learn anything more about them.” Of course I re-read my favourite series.
So do you prefer casual stories or long term commitments and why?
