My dad used to love sci-fi especially, and was the type of guy who would ignore everything until he finished his latest book (not actually as cute as it sounds when we’re talking about a grown adult with responsibilities, but that’s not important right now).
Now he has mild cognitive impairment and can’t concentrate on a book for very long. Can anyone suggest really punchy SF books written at a lower reading level for an adult audience?
He’s a Silent Generation guy and loved Heinlein, Bradbury, Asimov, and Clarke. He liked the film adaptations of Dune, Blade Runner, and Total Recall, but I don’t think he ever read any Herbert or Dick. Spouse and I introduced him to Bujold, Moon, and Spider Robinson before his decline, which he liked. We also introduced him to Pratchett, McCaffrey, and Jemison, which he did not like.
