I decided to reread the book a few days ago when I was in Chandigarh at my cousin’s house and had 3 whole days to myself to do whatever I wanted, free of school-stress. When I read it as a 10 year old, I had only found the fictional story about a boy who had travelled to a fantasy world. Now, after reading about Salman Rushdie’s life himself, I see the parallel between his life and experiences and the story’s plot and challenges. The parallels between censorship and the story’s villain make this a very refreshing read. There are also references to other stories that are interesting to catch and enhance the feel of the book. The mention of Kashmir and Dal Lake indirectly is also an interesting reference to catch as I have visited Kashmir myself and loved it there.

Have you all read this book? Do you all like it or find it too childish for your tastes?
