Does anyone happen to know some very angst, hurt/comfort heavy books which revolve around a MxM couple/romance where the main character is in an abusive relationship with another man and the Male Lead helps him out of it or he was previously in an abusive relationship and while the main couple are together his abusive Ex returns to taunt him/try to get him back which ends up affecting him alot?
Additionally, i would love to read a book where the main character has a pre-existing medical condition which has been affecting his health for a long time and the ML helps him through it, giving him a bit of happiness before he ultimately succumbs to his illness. Or even if the illness starts getting worse during the book or he is diagnosed with an illness during the book?
I’m also a big fan of Mafia romances where the sunshine, innocent main character gets kidnapped/tortured by a rival of the ML’s and after they are rescued, they are just a shell of their former self and unable to look at anyone the same again and there’s just a bunch of angst involved.
I know these are very specific and niche requests but i like characters i can relate to (illness and past abuse) or just characters which deal with a lot yet ultimately are able to recover or die a tragic and miserable death. I do also prefer when the “sunshine” character is the target of this abuse and loses their spark and happiness throughout the story, becoming a hollow, empty shell by the end of the book. Anything that can make me cry is also welcomed as a suggestion. I am not an easy person to make cry however, so throw your most gut-wrenching, soul-crushing recommendations at me please. Thankyou <3
