I need book recommendations!
I’m in a rut right now and can’t find a series that I genuinely enjoy. I’ll list some of the books I read recently in the comments and add some brief thoughts in case that would help with recommendations, but what I’m mainly looking for is this:
Romance, Dark Romance, Fantasy, Adventure, and/or Time Period series (2-3+ books) with some spice. It doesn’t have to be super spicy (though I definitely wouldn’t complain if it was), but includes more than briefly glossing over the main characters sexual interactions (ie; the scenes in the Night Circus or A Thousand Boy Kisses). I’d also love something with an emotionally immersive and well-articulated subplot regarding the main character struggling with some type of traumatic event (ie; SA in Hunting Adeline & The Way I Used to Be, Cancer/Grief in A Thousand Boy Kisses). I really enjoy alternating POV’s as long as it’s primarily limited to those of the main characters.
A few things I’d consider dealbreakers when it comes to my interest in a story are:
•Stories told through non-linear events or chapters, I just can’t get into a book that’s jumping back and forth through months and years between chapters. (ie; Night Circus & All the Light We Cannot See)
•Plots that graphically depict the repeated SA of character in a way that fetishizes and or romanticizes the abuse (Outlander).
•For spicy books, I’m not into MM or FF spice (same-sex couples otherwise are fine) or an*l (which ruined the end of Hunting Adeline for me).
•While not necessarily a dealbreaker, I’d prefer the book cover art isn’t sexually suggestive since I have all my books on display lol
