So for as long as I’ve been reading for fun, my favorite genre has been fantasy, well over 80% of my books are of that genre. However, after so many years, with a few exceptions, they start to feel a bit samey so I’ve been trying to get into historical fiction. I like history, but all the historical fiction books I’ve picked up seem more interested in showcasing every tiny nook and cranny of the setting than in telling the story. Do you have any recommendations that could help ease me into this genre?
P.S. Please nothing taking place post-1933, any time period before that is fine but 1400-1820 is preferred
