Quote from Chapter 9 about post office clerks: “As postal communications improved, more clerks were needed everywhere. Every letter had to be painstakingly written, copied, filed, and posted, by hand. Every entry in a ledger had to be written legibly by hand. It would be beyond the abilities of the present computer age. ”
What does the author mean by “It would be beyond the abilities of the present computer age.” ?
I believe the entire post office of London could be processed with computers from the 1980’s!
