Favorite reads of 2023 (or ever, if inclined) by authors with minority status?

I have been trying to consume more literature by diverse authors. Any minority status will do (e.g., race, gender, sexual orientation, immigrant, disability, etc). An example for a non-2023 exclusive read could be Khaled Hosseini’s Kite Runner or A Thousand Splendid Suns.
