First of all, I think this book is great. But I’m confused by one thing. At the beginning of the book, the main character is confused because it seems like all of a sudden Eugene is making eye contact, understands her, etc. But later on they find out that Eugene has been understanding them this whole time. So why would his behavior seem different at the beginning of the book when he in fact has had this ability all the time? Has the therapy worked to change his behavior so it’s now more apparent?
