I always try to make sure that by the end of each year, the books I have read aren’t so heavily skewed to male authors. It’s never on purpose as I usually just go by the premise or genres of books when choosing what to read, but it invariably ends up looking that way. Any genres and suggestions welcome as I’d like to get a broad response of people’s favourites that I can add to my lists.

    1. Carson McCullers is one of my favorites. Quite progressive for her time. I enjoyed Tess Gunty’s “The Rabbit Hutch” last year, too.
