I’ve already asked chat Gpt and its efforts were completely futile and I keep racking my brains and just can’t come closer to solving this riddle. All I know that this book features a man, named Ludvig I guess who visits a church and makes an acquaintance of a woman, named Isabella (not sure) and later he learns that she has been suffering from from some kind of personality disorder. She has 2 personalities Isabella (good-natured and cheerful) and Gisel who is cunning and deceitful. From time to time she calls him differently. She calls him sometimes Rudolf, when she feels safe. After a while she is put into a mental facility and gets infuriated, after seeing this man and realising that it was he who made it happen. At the end she is cured and no longer even remembers him. Rudolf was a family friend. Please, help me find this book. I am dying to find out its name and reread it.
