Hello,
I am looking for an erotic thriller similar to Eyes Wide Shut (The movie and yes I am familiar with the book it’s based on) and Damage by Josephine Hart which inspired the netflix adaptation ‘Obsession’.
I am looking for something that is based around betrayal and taboo, for example Damage by Josephine Hart is about a father who starts an affair with his son’s fiance, but I am also looking for something with some sort of sex cult like in Eyes Wide Shut.
I have also Read Rosemary’s baby which also fits this somewhat and enjoyed it.
Thanks in advance

I have not seen/read anything in this post, but you may like Manhunt by Gretchen Felker-Martin. Lots of explicit sex and gore, lots of taboo and taboo breaking. It’s mostly about transgender people trying to survive in the apocalypse. Be warned that there are slurs and scenes of rape.
I recently commented about this book on another post because I can’t help myself regarding how excellent it is.
Although not the focal point of the plot, there is a sexual undertone to many of the scenes that I think you would enjoy.
“The Alchemist” by Kenneth Goddard is extremely good. Despite being 400+ pages I finished it in about 3 days.
The book takes place in 1980s San Diego. Special agents go undercover in an off-the-books operation (no red tape, higher ups don’t know about it. Characters even work against legitimate police investigations at times).
There’s action and violence, sexual scenes (caution- there are graphic rape scenes), but it’s not excessive. The characters are all exceptionally unique and well written. None of the characters made me immediately think of a trope or someone I had seen in other media. One of the most suspenseful, satisfying books I’ve ever read.
The character that really steals the show is a vicious killer named Rainbow. An extremely intelligent pimp and drug lord who has an obsession with knives.
Can’t recommend enough. Best Goodwill find I’ve ever had.
In The Cut by Susanna Moore (curiously, nicole kidman got obsessed with it while filming EWS)
Deep Water by Patricia Highsmith
Saving this for ….academic purposes
