I’m looking for a fantasy book that takes place at least partially in our world — it can be a portal fantasy, a fantasy where magic is constantly present but people don’t notice it, etc.
Ideally, it’ll have romance, action, and humor, and it’s fine for ANY of those to be the main thrust of the book.
The MCs should be age 25+, and it should be set some time in 2000 or later.
The only books coming to mind right now are portal fantasies, but off the top of my head, I’ve liked the following media from this genre: A Curse So Dark And Lonely (first book only), The Awakening (Dragonheart Legacy trilogy), Eaternal Nocturnals and Sirens Lament (Webtoons), and The Magicians (TV show, not book. Too young in book.)
Basically, I’m looking for a book that makes me feel like something magical could happen to someone other than a teenager. TIA!
