The Night of the Hunter is comfortably one of the best novels I’ve ever read. I’ve read most of the novels in the new series of Penguin Crime and Espionage already and besides I don’t think the rest have what I’m looking for – such apparent religious themes and the verbosity about the time period and that countryside setting in West Virginia really have whetted my appetite for more of that. Any tips?
