I’m going through a rough time right now and kind of want to indulge in someone else’s life and story. If it has a happy ending, then that will give me hope for the future that I will find someone else and if it has a sad ending, it will allow me to grieve and not feel so alone, so both are acceptable (please don’t spoil). I like classical novels but haven’t read anything romantical so feel free to suggest anything. Thank you in advance.

Edit: I’m a guy for reference, if that affects anything.

    1. I mean, if you like classics there’s always Jane Austen. She’s super fun to read.

Persuasion and Sense & Sensibility each have characters who dealt with a breakup, plots are pretty different.

I’m also going to throw in Maisie Dobbs, which is both first book in and name of an historical mystery series.

The Saint of Steel books by T Kingfisher are fantasy romance with some spice following Paladin characters that feel broken finding romance, if that sounds up your ally. The Clocktaur duology by the same author is similar.
