I was a victim of author Cait Corrain. As the Mark Dawson Plagiarism comes to light, and Lauren LM Davis is having a racist meltdown on Twitter, their actions affects real people. We are people. Writers that sabotage harm \*real people\* and our careers. For example, plagiarism, stolen line comes from someone’s hard work. You get credit for brilliance you did not come up with. His victims are robbed of their credit.
Here is the context for Mark Dawson’s alleged plagiarism if you don’t know: https://www.reddit.com/r/books/comments/18n30jn/i\_believe\_bestselling\_author\_mark\_dawson\_is\_a/
For me, Cait Corrain harassed my Goodreads content warnings until I deleted it. She has more victims. It’s been miserable starting over. I didn’t have help while it happened. I am a new debut author, it is excruciating. I was isolated. I don’t think she saw me as a human. (It later came out she targeted us for our skin color, Greek mythology, and being close to her 2024 released date.)
My career suffered for no reason. She raised my anxiety and sent me into depression. I thought I was under attack by actual harassers and I had to contact Goodreads and delete tweets that could risk sending more harassers to my book. I had no idea it was an author.
Please, if any of you are sabotaging writers, just stop. We are actual people with lives, feelings, dreams. It’s too late for me, but you can save someone else.
