Hi guys,
I’m a literary journalist and always thought that too often we tend to put high literature on the pedestal and discuss it seperately from popular culture. And that’s a shame because those two things can support each other quite well.
I recently had an interesting thought about Ahab being the anti-thesis to the main character from Netflix’s hit series “Arcane”. If you want to hear more, here’s my analysis concerning Moby Dick’s role as Ahab’s God, the captain’s mental illness and an interesting parallel with Jinx. There are spoilers in the video, so be aware of that if you hadn’t read the book or the show yet. Feel free to comment, critique and discuss :).
Do you think there should be more instances of analytical content that mixes classics with works in other genres or mediums?
