I was wondering if there were anyone else on here who like Ann bishops black jewels series. It’s almost impossible to sometimes even find people who have heard of it. I might be a TINY bit obsessive about the series: my service dog, and my two cats were all named from characters and I half leg sleeve tattoo from the series: 5 main characters, jewels, caste symbols, spiders, hourglasses and witchblood on the front; map of shalador Nehele, Jared blaed and the snow globes on the back.
Ok since I was told there wasn’t enough here for people to discuss to leave my post up here goes: try number 3…over the twelve book series Bishopl carries a coherent storyline between the three realms of Terrilee, Kaeleer, and Hell . The ongoing dance between Caste(someone’s calling) , jewel rank( their psychic strength) and bloodlines for the Blood and the ever going journey between the Blood and Landens( races and people that don’t have the strength to wear jewels). I especially love that the Blood aren’t limited to humanoid races: wolves, horses, scelties, unicorns, dragons, large felines, and spiders are also Blood.
It discusses and shows us the strength and resiliency that can be found when you survive the worst thing an adult can do to a child. And when anyone, regardless of gender, is allowed to-warp and twist an entire society to her whims.
12 books is a lot to cover and make it not applicable to any other books without getting into really nsfw topics and examples
